The best certificate in horticulture course available! More plant identification, more plant culture and more of what is required in the horticulture industry - when compared to other similar qualifications on offer.

ACS Student Comment: "Yes, [the course is a valuable learning experience] the reading is informative, the assignments are practical and the feedback is great. I find the assignments challenging and a lot of work to do properly, which is great. Overall, really enjoying the learning experience." Penelope Parsons, Australia, Certificate in Horticulture course.

“This is beyond what you would learn in a Trade Certificate in Horticulture. It teaches you everything a tradesman would learn about plant culture; and more science, plus more plant identification than what an average tradesperson whould know” - John Mason Dip.Hort.Sc., Cert.Supn, FIOH, FPLA, Garden Author and educator.

If you want a career in horticulture, this is one of the best starting points. This Certificate was developed with a great deal of industry input throughout the 1990's then revised by staff in Australia and the UK in 2004 to ensure international relevance. Graduates from this 600-700 hour certificate have a history of outstanding career success. The course provides a very strong foundation in general horticulture (up to 350 hours) as well as specialised training in a chosen area such as propagation, landscaping, nursery, arboriculture, organics.

AUSTRALIAN OPPORTUNITIES: After years of drought, things are now looking very bright for graduates of this type of course! Australian horticulture declined between 2003 and 2007; horticultural colleges closed and many professionals left the industry. Now the industry has turned a corner and we simply don't have enough colleges or graduates. Undertaking this course is a better bet than ever!  Talk To Us and Plan Your Career.

Why choose this course ahead of others on offer? Because we are dedicated to ensuring that your qualification is worthwhile out in the field - where it matters. Our courses focus on the student gaining broad knowledge and skills, and the ability to make decisions. Most other courses at this level focus on teaching students 'how to work under supervision' giving little scope for advancement - without a lot of further study. By focusing on problem based learning, we produce graduates with the edge, especially when it comes to management potential.

“This is equivalent to doing a Trade Certificate. It will give you knowledge and skills to specialise in the treatment of pest and disease problems in plants.
- Tracey Morris Dip.Hort., Cert.Hort., Cert III Organic Farming, ACS Tutor.

ADVANCED DIPLOMA FOR Horticultural Managers

Good managers are much sought after, but are scarce on the ground!

Horticultural management training - many courses are offered in the field but few compare with this one! Our courses are based on problem based learning - this gives our graduate students the ability to confidently make informed decisions, in all areas of horticultural management.

Management positions - employers look for well trained managers that have the ability to make informed decisions as well as run the operations side of their businesses. This course will place you ahead of the pack!

The nature and scope of horticultural management has changed dramatically in recent decades and will no doubt continue to change rapidly, however, there will always remain a need for horticultural managers whilst we continue to eat fruit and vegetables, play sport, and use tree planting to improve the environment.

Horticultural managers require a strong foundation in both horticulture and management. They need to how to correctly identify large numbers of different plants, and they need to understand the science that underpins knowledge of how to propagate or grow those plants.

“Professional managers in horticulture are scarce and opportunities abound for those with the good solid qualifications this course delivers. If you are ready to advance your career, or have aspirations beyond the average, then this management focused course (that also encourages thorough horticultural knowledge) will enable you to fulfil your goals.”  Adriana Fraser Cert.Hort., Cert.Child Care, Adv.Cert.App.Mgt., Cert IV Assessment and Training, Adv.Dip.Hort, ACS Tutor.

A great informative and comprehensive course for those needing a qualification.

Have the experience and skills - but need a qualification? This course offers you the opportunity to gain a qualification without having to spend years studying.

Qualifications are usually required these days, irrelevant of how much industry experience you may have. Those without at least a basic qualification are usually overlooked for promotion or even from gaining new employment opportunities.

A "Specialised Qualification" for people that have experience but need a theoretical foundation as well as a qualification. This comprises a set syllabus consisting generally of 30 lessons that relate to a particular specialist theme. A Proficiency Award allows you to study subjects in a highly specialised area. You select and study three short courses of your own choice, which relate to each other (eg. Three crops or three landscaping short courses). In addition, you must complete 200 hrs of approved work experience before receiving the award. Approval of course structure must be obtained before enrolling.
