Designed to train people for supervisory or managerial positions in a 'specific' industry sector. Content is as follows:

Core Units: four compulsory subjects covering management issues over approximately 400 hours of study. 
Elective Units: develop knowledge in a chosen area of specialisation - in this instance, Hydroponics. Covers 300 hours of study.

Industry Project:  'Management in the Workplace Project' - Covers 200 hours of approved work experience in a small business situation.

The project specifically aims to provide the student with the opportunity to apply and integrate skills and knowledge developed through various areas of formal study. This course is internationally accredited through I.A.R.C.

WHAT IS AQUAPONICS?
 

Aquaponics is the integration of hydroponics with aquaculture technologies.

• Hydroponics is the horticultural process of growing plants in mediums other than soil.
• Aquaculture is the culture of aquatic organisms (such as fish and crustaceans) for commercial purposes under controlled or partly controlled conditions.

A 600 hr IARC accredited course that develops knowledge and skills in the application of modern technology to horticulture; with particular emphasis on hydroponics.

The Core Units cover: Introduction to Plants, Plant Culture, Soils and Nutrition, Plant Identification and Use, Propagation & Pests, Diseases and Weeds.

Stream Units focus on hydroponic growing. This course is similar to other VHT002 horticulture certificates in its introductory (core) units, but devotes 50% of the course to topics specifically related to horticultural technology.

This is a good starting point for those who have little experience in horticulture or hydroponics; whose main interest is in growing AT HOME. Unlike our other courses, this course is NOT intended for commercial growing in any way. You will learn the theory behind hydroponic culture, as well as receive first hand practical experience as you set up your own basic hydroponic system.
 
To grow plants in hydroponics you must understand how the plant grows so that you can control the temperature, water, oxygen, nutrients etc. in the root zone.
