Train Towards Becoming a Child & Youth Counsellor

This advanced level course is ideal training for people who are interested in a career providing counselling to children and adolescents.

Learn about how children develop normally and what types of disorders and other problems can interfere with normal development. Gain valuable counselling skills so that you can help children to find ways to cope with their problems.

Learn about how children think and act at home, school and beyond

This is a solid foundation course that can be a great help in forging career success in industries as child and youth counselling, school counselling, children's services, child care and similar roles, or managerial and educational positions in related industries.

Counselling children is different to counselling adults. Children cannot always express themselves clearly and often find it difficult to explain how they are feeling. Children may also be afraid to talk about what is troubling them. Often children face challenges unique to being a child. There are also disorders of childhood which do not affect adults or which have different presentations in adults.

This course is designed to help students learn all about how they develop from infancy to childhood and into adolescence.  It combines this fundamental learning with counselling techniques to give you a broad platform from which to start a career working with young people.
