STUDENT ROOM NEWS

A unique feature of studying with ACS is our student room. If you are an ACS student and still have not visited the student room, why not check it out.

What is the Student Room?

The student room is a secure section on the internet that can only be entered with an access code. To get your code, email studentservices@acs.edu.au and request access. Once in, you can access our online library, submit assignments or payments securely over the net, and join the student register to interact with other students around the world.

The student register contains contact details and messages from students who want to interact with other students. Any ACS student can register and any ACS student with an access code can contact them. This facility is really taking off. For the first time, you can meet colleagues and develop friendships just as easily through a correspondence course as through a classroom based course.

----------------------------------------------------

NEW COURSE CODES

When you order your new course handbook or view our webpages, you might notice changes to the course codes. The new codes more accurately reflect the different levels of study, and will be phased in gradually.

CAREERS IN I.T.

I.T. is changing so fast. It's vital to stay up to date and to know how to stay up to date. Unfortunately many courses offered by traditional institutions don't teach this and as a result, many I.T. graduates find that work or success eludes them.

Certain I.T. skills are still in short supply, in part because many courses are run by governments and bureaucracies rather than people in the industry or with extensive industry experience. Talk to us about these high demand courses:

ASP.Net

Visual Basic.Net

Computer Servicing

Certificate in Web Site Development

AFFILIATE NEWS

  Affiliate Receives Award

Warnborough College , an ACS affiliate based in Canterbury , UK , was awarded the prestigious Investor in People (IiP) standard in April 2005. IiP is a UK government-backed initiative to help organisations to be more successful by adhering to good practice for the training and development of staff.

The IiP auditor noted in his report that outcomes from the   Warnborough   work done for ISO9001:2000 and for Investors in People standards “were clearly in evidence – people development processes in particular have been strengthened. There is a very open culture (staff talked of a genuine ‘open door' policy), and internal auditing systems not only promote continuous improvement, but also encourage staff to embrace change. All staff demonstrated an appetite for improvement.”

Study for Fun, Personal Development, or Career Advancement

ACS has courses that suit all of these goals and many of our courses can suit any of them.

It is important that we know why someone is studying with us for then we can support them according to that purpose.

At ACS , we try very hard to put the long term interests of our student s first and we are always happy to guide you into a course to suit your own particular needs.

If you want advice on what to study before enrolling, just ask us. We offer a free course counselling service. This can be extremely valuable to use if you are uncertain of what you want to do.

Where do your Fees Go?

After working for 30 years in education, I have come to realise that every college or school is different in the way they spend their budget. Some spend as much as 40% of their income on marketing while others as much as 30% on dealing with bureaucracy (e.g. government accreditation), and the profit margins can vary greatly as well.

ACS has always believed that the vast majority of fees we receive should be spent on course development and student services. People pay us to do a course, so the money should mostly go into the courses. In our opinion, this is an ethical responsibility and an underpinning philosophy we continue to follow.
