Love Birds? Read our New Ebook!

If you like birds, you will LOVE our new ebook.

The Birds ebook has landed!

Packed with over 130 stunning colour pictures and 117 pages of bird facts and information, this ebook is a must for anyone new to bird watching as ideal complementary read for our current Ornithology students. This book will give you great insight into the world of birds and is great way to gain a foundation knowledge of birds and be able to identify birds more easily.

Here are some interesting bird facts from the Birds ebook:

Frogmouths are sometimes confused with Owls, but they are not owls - despite their appearance.

The African vulture known as Ruppell's Vulture (Gyps rueppellii) has shown to fly the highest out of all birds of prey, reaching over 11,000m high.

Cranes are the largest of the gruiformes and the Sarus Crane (Grus antigone) is the tallest flying bird in the world (up to 1.8m).

More than half of the birds in the world are passerines.

Adult grebes eat their own feathers and also feed them to their young; the real reason for this behaviour in unclear, but it is believed to be to prevent injury from swallowing fish bones and/or to avoid gastric parasites, among other theories.

Ostriches are the world's largest flightless bird. They can reach speeds of over 70km/h running on land, taking strides of up to 5m.
