Winter is the Time to Plant Your Deciduous Fruit Trees

Winter is the Time to Plant Your Deciduous Fruit Trees

Winter in Australia is an ideal time to start a backyard orchard: most deciduous fruiting trees are available as bare-rooted stock now. Every year we are offered a wider variety of trees some of which are well suited to the small backyard or even inner city patio; trees range from heritage to dwarf and even miniature cultivars. Some are bred to plant as small hedges or 'step-over' plants – again ideal for the small garden or as a border to the fruit or vegetable gardens.

If heritage plants and unique varieties are your interest, or if you would like to be more acquainted with them, then you should check out our friends at Heritage Fruits Trees - they offer a great range of apples, pears, apricots, plums, peaches nectarines figs and more. They also offer non-heritage varieties - visit their website: www.heritagefruittrees.com.au

Don't forget our fruit production courses:
Fruit Production (Temperate)

Fruit Production (Warm Climates)

Or if a course isn't your thing, what about our ebook on Fruit, Vegetables & Herbs?

Happy Planting!
